As many of you know, our Student Ministries at EFCC has jumped on board with what our church is doing in Nepal. EFCC supports a ministry in Nepal where girls and young woman can go after they have been rescued from the awful industry of sex trafficking. This place is called New Leaf. New Leaf is a home where girls are taken care of, loved, and get to hear about Jesus' love for them. All and all it is an amazing story and we are so pumped that God has entrusted this home and these lives to us.
- Corresponding with the girls in the home through letters being written by our students.
- Greet the girls with occasional video greetings.
- Collect support ($) for the girls in the home. It costs money to house them and we would like to be a part of making sure those costs are covered.
If you think about it, please continue to pray for the girls, the home, and what God might ask us do next. We will continue to keep you updated on the happenings in Nepal.Dear All,
Some really fun and good news is that during our yearly conference of churches, One of the girls in the New Leaf house insisted on going forward and accepting Christ.
So teaching the girls more about Jesus is our number one goal for the Bible study held every Thursday night at New Leaf. Both girls are getting along with each other great!
Yesterday, I introduced them to the idea of doing a scrapbook of who they are, what they like, the past to the present and after coming to New Leaf. I will supervise doing this as it is a counseling tool. I took some training in counseling and the book idea was taught so that the girl can see that the bad part of her life is like a chapter, but better days are ahead for her.
I bought glitter glue, glitter tape and scrapbooks and colored paper. I will have the girls do art work, write journal entries, write poems, put photos and decorate their scrapbook pages. I thought I had the crimping scissors for paper that you use for scrabooking to make a jagged edge for borders, but I can't find it. Does anyone know what I am talking about? If anyone would like to send these scissors, paper punch designs for scrapbooking, various colors of ink pads (I have flower stamps) then it would make scrapbooking more fun for the girls. I have stickers, but if anyone would like to send age appropriate stickers, that would also be fine since Ken, Kevin and Marian are coming soon.
So far the girls are enrolled in a two hour a day informal school. We will be looking into getting someone to tutor them a little more also and then finding a school to transition them into. Both girls know some english so that will be good for Marian who will be staying at New Leaf for a few days.
Praying that Vic's presentation to the church on November 6 goes well. Let us know how it went also.
In Him,
Debbie
